Rowan Jacobs is a writer, director, documentary filmmaker and producer drawn to human stories that wrestle with big themes. His work moves between thoughtful documentary and gripping fiction, often centring underdogs, anti-heroes and people pushing back against the systems around them. Whether exploring joy, grief, resilience, or difficult social questions, Rowan’s films are grounded in character, empathy and a strong sense of place.
His recent documentary work includes Levelling The Field at Glastonbury Festival, a short film following a trainee programme for D/deaf and disabled producers at Glastonbury Festival; and two films shot in Jordan - The Panorama Dead Sea Complex and Museum at the Lowest Place on Earth - which explore cultural initiatives designed to bring tourism and renewed attention to the Dead Sea region. His fiction short Blackberrying was an Official Selection at the London Lift-Off Film Festival, placing fifth in the audience vote out of 210 entries, while his earlier theatre and audio work includes the sold-out Camden Fringe run of Life in Death and the commissioned podcast play .om.
After studying Film and Creative Writing at university, Rowan built his career across film, television, theatre and documentary, developing a reputation for story-led, visually considered work. Alongside his independent projects, he has worked with organisations and brands including the BBC, Channel 4, Ferrari, VICE, LADbible, ASOS and London College of Communication - bringing the same care for character and narrative to both cultural and commercial storytelling.
